A managed care organization (MCO) is a Medicaid health care company often called a "health plan." SCDHHS partners with five MCOs. They are listed below. Most Healthy Connections Medicaid members are enrolled in an MCO.

Receiving your Medicaid coverage through an MCO helps improve coordination in your health care. Each MCO plan has its own network of providers and incentive programs. You can choose your MCO when you first enroll as a Healthy Connections Medicaid member. Visit SCChoices.com. to learn more about choosing an MCO.

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) compares MCOs based on various aspects of care and service. You can view health plan report cards for each of South Carolina's MCOs on NCQA's website.
