Public Notice of Final Action for Physician-administered Drugs Purchased Through the 340B Program Reimbursement Methodology

The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) gives notice of the following proposed action regarding reimbursement methodology for physician-administered drugs (PAD) purchased through the Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) 340B Program under the State Plan under Title XIX of the Social Security Act for Medical Assistance Program (Medicaid).

Effective on or after Dec. 1, 2025, SCDHHS will amend the South Carolina Title XIX State Plan to establish reimbursement methodology for PAD purchased through the HRSA 340B Program and delivered in an outpatient setting, to not exceed the provider's actual acquisition cost.

SCDHHS is making this update to ensure providers comply with the HRSA's 340B Program policies and procedures.

Based on the action above, SCDHHS anticipates an annual cost savings of approximately $2.3 million total dollars.

Copies of this notice are available at South Carolina Healthy Connections Medicaid county offices and at www.scdhhs.gov for public review. Additional information regarding this action is available upon request at the address cited below.

Any written comments submitted may be reviewed by the public at the SCDHHS, Office of Health Programs, 1801 Main Street, Columbia, South Carolina, Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
