CMS’ Approval of 1915(c) Waiver Amendments

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has approved 1915(c) waiver amendments requested by the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS). Through these amendments, which are described in Medicaid bulletin MB# 23-029, personal care and private duty nursing services have consolidated into single procedure codes for personal care, private duty nursing and enhanced nursing services effective July 1, 2023. In addition, the amendments updated policies related to reimbursement of family members as outlined in the Community Long-Term Care provider manual (Section 6). CMS approved amendments that affect the following waivers: 

  • SC.0237 (Intellectual Disability/Related Disabilities)
  • SC.0676 (Community Supports)
  • SC.0405 (Community Choices)
  • SC.0675 (Medically Complex Children)
  • SC.0186 (HIV/AIDS)
  • SC.40181 (Mechanical Ventilator Dependent)
